· Responsible for the controls and process information needs for the most dynamic area of our site
1. Working with operational management to determine new controls needs and implementing them in my area of responsibility (2 coated paper machines, a pressurized groundwood mill, and a coating plant)
2. Programming and administration of the Delta-V and Bailey net-90/infinet distributed control systems
3. Designing and implementing new user interfaces for the Delta-V and Bailey net-90/infinet DCS
4. Transitioning departments from Bailey to Delta-V using RoviSys’s BaileyConnect package for initial steps and FlexConnect for later steps.
5. Assisting our Electronics and Instrumentation Technicians with hardware troubleshooting on our Bailey net-90 / infinet DCS
6. Designing new ParcView displays (much like OsiSoft’s Pi)
7. Initiation and maintaining of statistical process control charts for key instruments
8. Management of control-relevant capital projects

1 Delta-V Implementation I (Emerson course #7009)
10. VB 6.0 / VBA / VB .Net Programming
1 Shift Reports for operations – An application that retrieves manufacturing data from two SQL databases and one proprietary application, performs calculations on it, and display the results to shift foremen. The foremen would then enter additional data for the day and the report would be archived to a SQL database and stored in PDF form for easy retrieval. This was implemented in Excel using VBA.
2 Delta-V display distribution tool – An application written to ease the distribution of DeltaV graphics from the server to the operator stations and help with version control of the graphics. This was implemented in Visual Studio .NET.
3 Statistical process control tool – An application written to help facilitate SPC at our site. The application lets the user enter manual test data and instrument data and then calculates the differences between the two. The app then stores the data in a SQL database that is used by our trending application to display it in a graph form for operations personnel. This was implemented with VB 6.0 and SQL Server 2000.
4 Chemical Use Tracker – A solution designed to track the amount of individual chemicals added to a batch process (coating mixing) on a per-batch basis and make this data available to operations personnel. The app pulls information out of our Delta-V distributed control system using OPC, and then stores it in a SQL database for review / report generation in Excel. This is currently being implemented in VB 6.0, SQL Server 2000 and Excel using VBA.
